NOVEX - KLEPTOPHONICA
NOVEX - KLEPTOPHONICA

Dorothy and I made this record at the Unwound compound in early 2001. I recently came across a box of these so here's your chance to hear this long lost gem. Here's what Aquarius Records had to say about it:
"Kleptophonica was the long-awaited follow-up to the wonderful AQ-staff-and-customer-fave Milk Cult album Project M-13. Milk Cult themselves being the experimental side project of infamous SF noiserockers Steel Pole Bathtub, whom we also love.
Since just 2/3 of Milk Cult participated in the making of this record, they went under a different name, calling themselves Novex. But it's the very same delicious combination of far-flung influences and manipulation of the collective's prodigous store of sampleable materials, from surf-movie guitar gurglings, manic vinyl scratching, heavy floorshaking bass, looped sadness courtesy of ABBA, and what even sounds like Miles Davis on trumpet.
This album is also much more traditionally "pop" than the Milk Cult record, complete with real songs, choruses, Beatles-y hooks, indieboy vocals (sorta like the Apples in Stereo, sorta like Robyn Hitchcock) and a relatively sweet tone throughout, which when combined with the electronic and breakbeat stuff, makes for a keenly charming combo. Thus the record will appeal not only to fans of Milk Cult, but also Land of the Loops and other purveyors of looped fun."
